Over the past week or so I have given myself a “sabbatical.” I haven’t posted anything, and in fact did some ground work on the homepage of Hairnastics.com (what do you think?). The time of rest was good, although I definitely felt “behind the game.” It felt as though the world was passing me by, but it was great to be able to take a breath. Things that Hairnastics did:
- Developed a new product line (by “product line” I mean one product)
- Revamped the website.
- I personally attended a trade show-like expo for beauty and hair called the Ubiquitous Women’s Expo in Washington, D.C.
- As a result of 3), I met many entrepreneurs in the beauty and hair space who were really going after their dreams. I got a good dose of inspiration from them.
- Came up with ways to engage visitors to hairnastics.com that are planned to be implemented in the coming months.
Taking a break helped to place things in perspective for me. I took mental inventory of what was really needed for Hairnastics and what wasn’t. For instance, I decided to reduce Hairnastics’ activity on several social media streams that were not producing enough growth, and focus only on those that were. We’ll know if this decision was fruitful in the coming weeks, but I am excited to have more focus.
Do you regularly take breaks from your important work to revamp, rejuvinate, and reflect? If so, what positive outcomes have you seen? If not, what are your motivations for not resting?
