Ever been so eager to make a decision that you throw caution to the wind and just act? What has been the outcome? Today’s inspiration has to do with self-value. When we value ourselves, “any old thing” will not do. We are not so desperate for attention, approval, or other things that we lower our standards or ethics. Instead, we set up boundaries and we honor them.
When we value ourselves, every decision is filtered through our standards, and through what we know is the right thing to do. It may be that we even need the thing we are after in the moment – however, favoring the long-term effect of our decision may be the more advantageous road to take.
I don’t know what decisions you have to make today, but before barreling forward, consider taking some time to pause and reflect. Some questions to consider may be:
- Is this decision in my best interest?
- Am I doing this for others’ approval only?
- Does this decision place others at a disadvantage just to make me look good in the moment (this too is another form of desperation)
We may find that by slowing down in our decision-making to leave room for discernment, we actually end up moving ahead much faster than we ever imagined!
